I am an Associate Professor in the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology at the University of Nevada, Reno. My research interests are in structural geology and continental tectonics, and I have worked on a wide variety of geologic problems, including the deciphering the kinematics of orogenic plateau development, Cenozoic deformation in northern Tibet, paleogeographic reconstructions of Neoproterozoic Earth, the tectonic evolution of western Laurentia and the North American Cordillera, the mechanics of strike-slip faulting, the generation of metamorphic core complexes, and crustal rheology from the continent scale to individual shear zones. I use a combination of field and analytical research to pursue my research goals.
